Driving Lessons: Important Information

Don't just learn to pass the road test, but learn to be a safe driver.

How long and often are lessons? Each lesson is 2 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. We have found this structure to be the most beneficial for students.  To get the most out of your lessons, please plan on having 1 lesson each week. Your package has an expiration date because it is not beneficial to space your lessons out over too much time.

What if I can't do a 2 hour lesson? If the student has circumstances where a 2-hour lesson is not possible or ideal, please call Drive and Shine at 386.264.3996. We will help create a plan that works best for you.

What we want for our students:  Our goal is to teach SAFETY.  It isn't difficult to pass a short driving test, but it is difficult to learn how to navigate real-world roads that have many dangers and distractions.  We want to impress upon our students safe habits and skills that can save not only their own lives but also the lives of others when behind the wheel. All lesson plans are taught in our school vehicles. Our driving school compact cars are safe and easy to learn in. Our vehicles are state-licensed, commercially insured, and equipped with passenger brakes to ensure our instructors can provide both the safest and stress-free learning environment possible. We move at the pace of our students and will prioritize their safety over a set curriculum. Thank you in advance for partnering with us to ensure your safety while learning how to drive.   

   

What counties do we serve?   At this time, we offer door-to-door service in Flagler County. Starting March 31, 2025 we will serve these zip codes within the Saint Augustine region: 32084, 32080, 32086      

 

Do you offer certificates for an insurance discount?  When a student has completed a plan of at least 6 hours with us, they can request a certificate from Drive and Shine to present to their car insurance policyholder. (We cannot guarantee that your insurance will honor the certificate, though most do). To request a certificate, please call or text us at 386.264.3996.

    • What is included:
    • Rental of our vehicle
    • A 1 hour road test essentials review before your test
    • transportation to and from your testing appointment
    • Make sure to check with the DMV that you have all required
    • documents to get your license if you pass. We will not
    • backtrack to your home to grab them if you forgot.
    • If you forget, or do not have all the proper documents,
    • there will be a $60 rescheduling fee
    • All in all, this package lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours
